Volcano House

Being the only hotel in the national park (and, being founded in 1846, actually predating the park) means that nowhere else can you wake up to views of the Kilauea Caldera and a rainforest through your window. Even if you don’t stay overnight at this historic (and recently renovated) venue, stop for an epicurean meal at the hotel’s Rim Restaurant or for a drink in Uncle George’s Lounge, where Hawaiian musicians play.

Namakanipaio Cabins & Campground

Nestled within a peaceful grove of eucalyptus trees, this park campground will let you pitch a tent – if you rent one from them, they’ll even set it up for you – or bunk down in a rustic cabin with a barbecue grill and fire pit outside your door.
